Usiminas, Brazil and ABP Induction, Germany

With production of 10 million tons per year, Usiminas is the largest flat steel producer in Latin America.  Their leadership position is no accident. Usiminas’s philosophy of using technological advances with a focus towards sustaining the environment is essential to their success. Given the almost identical vision it is not surprising Usiminas partnered with ABP Induction for the Modernization and Restructuring of their foundry site in Ipatinga – Minas Gerais.

"Sustainable Technology" was the main inspiration for the IFM-4R         4.8 MW 230 Hz TwinPower, with a capacity of up to 6 tons per hour. The ABP team built, delivered, and installed the IFM-4R on site in record time (July 2011 – November 2011). In conjunction with excellent technical team from the Usiminas´s Engineering and of Usiminas Mecânica S.A. management was crucial to the success of the project.

Outstanding expertise in controlling, communication, reliability, and business services earned ABP Induction the "Outstanding Supplier Award" of the Modernization and Restructuring Foundry, for which we are particularly proud.

ABP Induction, headquartered in Dortmund, has approximately 500 employees worldwide. ABP Induction is a technological leader of melting, holding and pouring equipment for ferrous & nonferrous metals and is certified by the German Institute for Sustainability and Economics.
