ABP channel-type furnace IRT 135

Three German foundries specializing in casting parts for the automotive industry decided at the end of 2011 in favor of channel-type induction furnaces of the type 'IRT' manufactured by ABP Induction Systems.

At the iron foundry Fritz Winter Eisengießerei GmbH & Co. KG in Stadtallendorf/Germany, the largest group-independent foundry in Europe and a company which specializes in casting parts for the automobile, commercial vehicles and hydraulics industry, the  IRT 135 channel-type furnace  with a utility capacity of 135 tons molten iron and a total capacity of 155 tons molten iron went into operation in November 2011. The heart of the furnace, the channel-type inductor, is supplied with a 1200kW t power supply system .
The furnace is used for manufacturing ductile iron (GJS) and cast vermicular graphite (GJV). This means that a total of five ABP channel-type furnaces now secure the production of engine blocks, brake discs etc. in Stadtallendorf.

In addition a  IRT 115 channel-type furnace was sold to the foundry Georg Fischer GmbH & Co. KG in Mettmann/Germany; this has a utility capacity of 90 tons (105 ton gross). The power supply  is also 1,200 kW.
This furnace will be going into operation in April 2012 and is the fourth IRT 115 channel-type furnace to go into service successfully at the Mettmann foundry.

The Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz plant in Mannheim also ordered their fourth ABP channel-type furnace in the successful history of the Mannheim foundry last year. An ABP IRT 110  channel-type induction furnace  with a utility capacity of 75 tons (90 tons gross) and an inductor and power supply  of 1,200 kW will also go into operation in February 2012. The new furnace will secure the storage and continuous supply of molten iron to the Daimler molding lines in the Mannheim plant in the customary manner.
